Arnica (Arnica Montana)(Arnica Acaulis)-Used
as a potent anti-inflammatory and helps speed the healing process when used as a poultice on sprains, bruises, breaks, and
strains. Mix 2 heaping tablespoons loose herb with 1/4 cup water. Simmer 5 minutes. Let cool to touch. Strain, place
damp herb on affected area, cover and let it work its magic either overnight or one to two hours. Do Not take internally!
Astragalus (Astragalus Propinquus) (Astragalus Membranaceus)-Improves
immune function by protecting and supporting with a high content of antioxidants. Recent studies have shown astragalus to
speed recovery and prolong life expectancy to those who suffer diseases that compromise the immune system. Take 1-2 capsules
daily or 1/2-1 tsp. Caution:May increase strength and potency of blood thinners, anti-viral,diuretic, high blood pressure,
and anti-rejection drugs.
Ashwaganda(Withania Somnifera)Used
extensively in Ayurvedic medicine. Known as an adaptogen, or an herb that works on many of body systems to promote health
and longevity. Known to have anti-carcinogenic properties. Helps bring relief to people suffering from stress, fatigue, memory
loss and Alzheimer's. 1 capsule or 1/2 tsp. per day. Should be avoided by those taking prescription medications for anxiety,
insomnia, or seizure disorders.
Bladder Wrack Seaweed
found on the shores of the North Sea, Western Baltic, Atlantic, and Pacific oceans. Was the original source for iodine. Used
as an essential nutrient for thyroid health. Especially effective for hyperthyroidism, working by regulating thyroid
function. Those that suffer from hyperthyroidism, or woman who are pregnant or nursing should not take Bladderwrack. 1-2 tsp./capsules
daily.
Black Cohosh (cimicifuga Racemosa) (Actea
Racemosa)Used by Native Americans as a traditional remedy for woman's health, arthritis, cold and cough, and indigestion.
Today it is used extensively as a remedy for many of the symptoms of menopause. It has been shown to reduce or eliminate hot
flashes, mood swings, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and also helps those suffering from the symptoms of PMS. Because it may
act like the hormone estrogen, those who are any form of hormone replacement therapy should not take black cohosh.
Black Walnut (Juglans Nigra)Known for being a parasite killer, black
walnut works because of its high iodine content. Also good when used as an anti-septic and anti-fungal. Helps treat thrush,
cold sores, athletes foot, ring worm, and any other viral. Use as a powder form in tea, or as a capsule mixed with wormwood
for internal parasites.
Blue Cohosh(Caulophyllum
Thalictroides) Best when used to help ease painful menstruation or to nourish and revitalize the uterus. Once used to
induce labor, it should not be used by pregnant woman, but after labor, it will help strengthen the uterus.
Burdock Root (Arctum Lappa) First and foremost a blood purifier,
it removes toxins from the blood. An ingredient in ESSIAC, it has been shown to be quite helpful in treating certain forms
of cancer. Also used as diuretic because of its ability to help the body eliminate uric acid.
Calendula(Calendula Officinalis) Used for its medicinal properties since at least the 12th century, today it is used
topically to speed the healing of burns, cuts, and bruises.
Chapparral(Larrea Tridentata) Used by native Americans in the South West as an antioxidant, sunscreen, and as a treatment
of blood poisoning. People with compromised liver funtion should avoid using this herb.
Dandelion
leaf (Taraxacum Officinale) Very succesful when used as a diuretic. Use 1 heaping
tablespoon in 1 cup water and drink as a tea.
Dong Quai(Angelica
sinensis)Most commonly used as a remedy for painful or irregular menstruation, menopausal symptoms, and treating and
preventing allergies. Acts as an anti-histamine and works well with black cohosh.
Fenugreek
(Trigonella Foenum-graecum)Used to increase breast milk production, mild laxative, some studies
have shown it can help lower blood sugar and high cholesterol. Pregnant woman should avoid this herb because of its activity
as a uterine stimulant.
Feverfew (Tanacetum
Parthenium) Studies have proven the usefulness of this herb as a headache and migraine eliminator. Take 1 capsule at
the onset of the headache and 1 capsule 15 minutes later.
Fo-Ti (Polygonum Multiflorum) (He Shou Wu) Used as an anti-aging herb. A legend in China recalls the story of
Mr. He, an elderly man who, after taking fo-ti, restored his youth and vitality.
